Interesting perspective, Elicia, makes a lot of sense! Though I've said for years the solution to making dating apps work for women is to make it so people can only ever talk to 2 people at once, so you're only allowed two matches at a time.

This would force everyone to be much more selective, it would also make people spend more time getting to know a person, because they would have to. To get another match, they would need to unmatch one of the people they were already talking to.

I'm certain this would make a big difference, though I don't think it would be a very profitable method on a business level, as I can't see there being many means of profitability through limiting matches so much, which I guess in the end is the challenge of dating apps. They have to be both profitable and work, but the focus is more on the profit than working, especially because as you say, people have so few options meaning they have to take what is given.

Great post, Elicia, much food for thought, and good to see you back after such a long break!
