Indeed, curvy was the ideal, it was linked to the sheer size of the meals the rich had, and the number of courses. Queen Anne was out right obese, though in her paintings she was not depicted this way!

It's fascinating how beauty ideals change with the ebbs and flows of time and across different cultures. Though of course this all came to an end once the Victorians created the consumer-based global fashion industry, and based it on the wafer thin middle classes who had been starved in their youths and so had bodies like Audrey Hepburn!
