I had a friend who was going to donate, he first went to a clinic but the process was so arduous he decided to try the online route, but he got put off by it simply because all the people messaging him simply wanted sperm, they hardly wanted to know anything about him.

The ones that did, he just never felt he could trust them, which put him off it. I think the vast majority of guys struggle with the idea of not having control over a child of theirs, and the fear that by not doing so, the kid could have a rough life – which leaves only the other type of guy.

For example, I would only ever donate sperm if it was to somebody I knew very well and I trusted a lot. To go this, I just think that people just have very little trust these days in others, and the more you look at worlds like the online world, and you see what people act like, and then you see data like the lack of male influence and the effect that has on children, and it just puts men off more and more.

It’s really tough, but that’s why I always think that perhaps coparenting is the path forward, rather than no contact donations. For example, it's really difficult for same-sex men to have children, but very easy for same-sex women so long as they find a sperm donor, going down the route of coparenting between same-sex men and women would likely provide a much safer route.

The trouble is, a lot of people, especially couples, are not very sharing when it comes to the idea of children which makes the coparenting option more difficult to make a reality.

But I'm certain that it is the best option to get out of the mess that the no contact sperm scene creates, as I'm certain it would create a substantial amount of male options who are far better than the majority of the current ones on the scene.

But, who knows.

Anyhow, great post, Elicia, really eye-opening!
