Great post, Elicia, I largely agree! As they say, sex is complex and if you add all our cultural teachings to our biology, opening up your relationship becomes extraordinarily complex.

This is why I agree with the premise, only couples with two people in them that are willing to put in the hard work and in effect become each other's lover and real best friend, likely can have successful open relationships.

What I mean by real best friend is, it's amazing how differently we talk to our best friends versus our partners, we talk to our best friends very much about sex and our sex lives. You need to add that to your relationship if you're going to have an open relationship.
