Great comment, Alan, you're not wrong with your thoughts, the easier it is to get to London, the more the likelihood is those who can work in London, will take the chance to purchase property in cheaper locales, making those who live and work in those locales find it ever more difficult to purchase property there.
What we really need to do is work to find a way to create greater wage equality across regions, but it's hard to do that if the best people keep taking jobs in the best places, rather than working to build up the other places.
