Fascinating conclusion, Elicia, I'll tell you something else that potentially backs up your argument. It's a well-known phenomenon that in environments where there are more men than women, the men are far more likely to put in a lot of hours in the workplace.

This reality even led to a fascinating postulation behind China’s explosive rise in the 90s and early 2000. Studies found that the more the numbers of adult men increased compared to women off the back of the one child policy, the more hours the men spent in the workplace, which boosted their careers big style, and the Chinese economy.

The reasons given for the massive increase in time spent in the workplace by the men, was largely put down to marriage competition. So, they were trying to get a wife.

The world certainly is a fascinating place, and the explanation for why things are the way they are, is certainly rarely what it seems. Great post, Elicia, thanks as ever for sharing!
