Curious indeed, it's an interesting paradox isn't it, what further muddies the waters is that I've come across countless studies over the years that show that despite what people say, about how morals and intellectual intelligence are the factors they rate highest, and logically speaking you would think they would be, in practice it seems to be that they are one of the least relevant factors. Seems there are many things that in practice people put above them.
What muddies the waters even further, there seems to be increasing evidence that the happiest people are people who are good-looking, have poor morals, and have less than average intelligence. And that high intellectual intelligence and high morals can actually hinder your chances of succeeding in society.
Makes you wonder if the world will ever make sense ha ha!
